Considerations and Risks of Coin and Bullion Investment

At Merit Financial, we take pride not only in the quality products we deliver but also in the quality of the information and advice we provide. We believe that the most important step to investing is becoming educated and knowledgeable about the asset. Please read the following closely before making any investment decisions.

Know Your Company

At Merit Financial, we believe working with a reputable organization is critical when making investments of any kind. Merit is an industry leader and has helped investors reach their financial goals for more than 21 years.

We provide our clients with the products, knowledge and information necessary to build a well-rounded and profitable gold and silver portfolio. Our excellent services and low prices have earned us a perfect "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau.

For more than two decades we have considered ourselves market makers because we offer to buy as well as sell a wide variety of bullion and coins. With sound financial footing, Merit has endured and grown in all market conditions. Our clients can invest with confidence that Merit will assist them with further placements and liquidations for decades to come. We take great pride in the fact that more than 80% of our clients have chosen to make multiple investments with our company, having been fully satisfied with their experience.

Merit financial has a full time staff with tremendous expertise and experiences in the bullion and coin markets. Investors will find our customer service to be some of the best in the industry. We pride ourselves in having a very simple and streamlined investment process that gets gold and silver into the hands of our clients as quickly as possible.

All of the certified Mint State coins that we offer are graded and guaranteed by either the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or the Numismatic Guarantee Corporation (NGC), the top two independent grading services in the world. We only deal in coins graded by one of these two companies and do not recommend investing in coins graded by any other services as the authenticity and value may vary widely from one to the next. We will only buy and sell to our clients graded coins that have been evaluated by either PCGS or NGC.

Coin and Bullion Facts and Considerations

Physical Metals and Diversification

Merit Financial deals exclusively in physical Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium. We do not conduct transactions in stocks, futures, options, or any other form of precious metals investments. We believe that owning physical metals is crucial to portfolio diversification, which is a key principle of successful money management. Various companies or individuals may recommend a variety of metals investment options, but at Merit we feel that coins and bullion are generally suitable for between 10 and 20 percent of an investment portfolio. Please consult your Merit Account Executive for further details.

Holding Period

Historically, coins and bullion have produced the best returns when held for a minimum of 3 to 5 years. Many rare coins or "numismatic" coins have provided returns that have far exceeded those of gold bullion. Because of the costs associated with acquiring many numismatic and semi-numismatic coins, they tend to carry a higher spread (difference between buy and sell prices). To overcome these spreads and realize potential profits, a holding period of at least 5-10 years is optimal.

Delivery

Merit Financial offers delivery on all products that we sell. Metals are shipped Registered USPS Mail and are fully insured by Merit until signed for on delivery. On average, packages ship within 7-10 business days from the date payment is received. Many more common products that we stock may ship more quickly. It is important to check carefully that your package contains all the items in your order and to notify your Account Executive promptly of any discrepancies or concerns with your order.

Credit Cards

We will gladly accept Visa or MasterCard on most transactions. We do not recommend going into debt to make an investment. Investors should have adequate cash reserves or disposable income to absorb any possible decreases in the market value of their investments. We reserve the right to request identity and delivery address verification from clients who choose to purchase metals using a credit card. In addition, certain discounts may be available on transactions conducted with other payment methods that are not available on credit card purchases. Please don't hesitate to contact your Account Executive with any questions you may have.

Cancellations and Returns

At Merit Financial, all first time clients have the right to a refund for any reason for the seven (7) calendar days following the date on which the details of the transaction are confirmed and order is processed. Merit will refund all commissions, spread and or storage fees and the client will be responsible for any actual market loss, ask price to ask price. Any market gains will be the sole property of Merit Financial. For second and subsequent transactions this refund policy does not apply and all sales are final. Though Merit may offer fair market bid value for any coins or metals returned on second or subsequent transactions or after seven (7) days from the order date on first time transactions, refunds will not be granted.

Risks

The value of bullion is determined by the international spot price of the metal contained in the bullion. Numismatic or semi-numismatic coin prices are determined by a number of factors including their metal value, perceived rarity, current demand, quality, market sentiment, general economic and other factors. No one can guarantee that coins or bullion will not decline in value. Any market or investment opinions expressed by Merit or any employees thereof are personal opinions only. Merit does not expressly or otherwise guarantee the performance of any investment and final investment decisions are the responsibility of the individual investor alone. This is why we strongly recommend that potential investors educate themselves on coins and bullion and their potential investment risks before making an investment. We do not generally recommend early withdrawal from other accounts that may carry various penalties in order to make an investment in coins or bullion without first consulting an investment professional who specializes in those accounts.

Prices and Costs

The price of Merit's coins and bullion are determined internally and are based on a variety of considerations including market movements, operating costs and profit calculations. These prices are constantly in flux and are subject to change at any time. The spread, or the difference between our buy and sell prices generally average between 15 and 20% and may be more or less on specific items. Bullion or common coins often carry a lower spread than rare or numismatic coins because of the costs associated with acquisition and other factors. For more than 21 years we have offered to buy back the coins we have sold at our then current bid price, creating an exit strategy for our clients. Our bid price is also determined by a variety of internal and external factors and is subject to change.

Merit Financial acts as a principal not as a broker and generally owns the coins and bullion that we sell. In some instances including tax-loss benefits, swapping one product or investment for another may be advantageous. We generally do not recommend numismatic to numismatic swaps unless the first investment has provided significant returns because of the spread associated with rare coins. No one can predict with certainty whether one coin will outperform another and Merit Financial does not guarantee recommendations or opinions expressed by individuals.
